Session 3: To the deepest depths

In this series, we make the case for men to get regular time out in nature. Data tells us that the average modern man spends 93% of his time indoors. That is to his detriment. To truly thrive, men need to listen to the call of the wild. Today, we look at how getting in the sea can transform your life, and will connect you to God in new ways.
This summer, I hit the beach in South Devon. There was a wicked Easterly wind which meant the waves were big and powerful. They were pummelling the shoreline with such ferocity that I finally understood how rocks were turned into sand. Being an experienced swimmer and surfer, I decided to go in anyway. Well, I tried. Every time I would step into the sea, a wave would crash into me, knocking me off my feet and back onto the shore. I would try to outsmart those waves, moving away from their break, but to my amazement, they kept changing direction and blasting me back to shore. I was in God's playground now and I could not get the smile off my face.
